Last week, TalentED YYC officially wrapped up its first hosted innovative work integrated learning opportunity.

Through a partnership with ECO Canada and Fuse Collective, and funding from the Business & Higher Education Roundtable, TalentED YYC offered the Net Zero Student Boot Camp for current post secondary students in Calgary.

In addition to learning from ECO Canada experts, panelists Bradley Wambolt from Hawk & Squirrel Innovation Inc., Chelsey Goodwin from Suncor, and Chris Brown from Calgary Economic Development advised students on successful careers and networked with them over dinner. “As the world gets more complex, there will be more opportunity” Chris advised students attending the boot camp, and Bradley added that “[your learning and development] is not over when you graduate. It’s just starting.”

TalentED YYC is dedicated to helping employers connect with student talent to help grow Calgary’s future-proof workforce. In addition to supporting employers in finding interns, co-op students, or other relevant work placements, the team is eager to create innovative student-employer connections like boot camps, hackathons, projects, and pitches.

Through opportunities like this, students develop career-relevant skills and insights that will help them contribute to Calgary companies, and better prepare them to jump into the workforce after graduation.

TalentED YYC will host future innovative work integrated learning events and is seeking collaboration with organizations interested in participating.
