December 2024
On behalf of the TalentED YYC team, I’d like to thank you for your interest in working with student talent this year!
To date in our project, we have been able to create 2759 work integrated learning opportunities for students, connect with 1295 employers, and have had over 300 employers create an opportunity (Feb 2023 – Oct 2024).
Work integrated learning (WIL) experience helps students, helps local businesses, and helps build our economy, and we are grateful that you are part of this work.
Our goal at TalentED YYC is to offer services that make it easier for employers to connect with student talent and we are proud to have added many new features this year:
- Our Work Integrated Learning Catalogue: a listing of all the programs in Calgary that have students seeking work experience
- The WIL Decision Tool to make it easier to decide what type of student role to offer
- Job Description templates on our resources page to make it easier to create a role
- A Funding Quiz to help clients understand available wage subsidy providers
- Direct access to our centralized portal so you can get your role in front of students at up to 7 post-secondary institutions in Calgary
We are continuing to refine these tools and hope they are helpful as you consider how students can help your organization thrive.
Many post-secondary institutions are still accepting employers for Winter 2025 capstone projects, several funders are currently accepting applications for 2025 wage subsidies, and Canada Summer Jobs is accepting employer applications for summer students until December 19! Be sure to watch our newsletter for more details and deadlines around 2025 student hiring.
Thank you so much for the opportunity to serve you. We look forward to helping you engage with student talent in 2025!
Warm Wishes,
D’Andre Wilson-Ihejirika
